NovoTTF device for treatment of patients with recurrent glio-blastoma (GBM) were presented as a late breaking abstract during the Neuro-Oncology session at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting. Study results show that NovoTTF, a portable medical device, is more effective than the best available chemotherapies for GBM, but without the toxicity usually associated with cytotoxic or targeted treatments.

NovoTTF device for treating supra-tentorial Glio-blastoma Multiform (GBM) tumors was used after surgery and radiation treatment on 237 patients with glio-blastoma tumors that had recurred despite previous treatments – achieved a comparable higher survival time to patients treated with the physician’s choice of the best chemotherapy. Patients treated with NovoTTF reported better quality of life and fewer side effects compared to patients treated with chemotherapy. http://www.novocuretrial.com/science.html See a video on the effect of Novo TTF treatment mechanism on cancer cells at > http://www.novocuretrial.com/mechanism%20of%20action.html

NasVax has positive results in its clinical trial of its oral anti-CD3 immunotherapy for the treatment of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), or fatty liver disease. The trial on 36 patients at Hadasa Medical Center Ein Kerem in Jerusalem found that the product was safe and indicated efficacy along various parameters.

The trial found that the anti-CD3 antibody affected the body’s immune system as hoped, by increasing the number of T regulatory cells in the immune system and lowering the level of enzymes in the liver which indicate liver inflammation. The study also found that blood sugar and insulin levels fell in diabetics participating in the trial.
